Maas Group Family Properties are eager to take the next step towards commencing works on their major mixed-use development after submitting the amended Development Application (DA) on the 2nd November 2018 to Dubbo Regional Council.
Plans for the $84.4 million dollar development were initially released to the public in November last year and were received by the local community with
overwhelming enthusiasm and support. In response plans were then finalised by Maas Group Family Properties and a DA was lodged with Dubbo Regional
Council on the 3rd of April this year.
Working with Council staff and various consultants amended plans were further developed which comprise several changes to ensure the heritage of the Old
Bank building is preserved enhanced. The applications assessment is targeted for a December meeting of the Joint Regional Planning Panel, with Maas
Group Family Properties General Manager Steve Guy proud of the amended result.
“The further consideration of the project with various professionals and Council sees the completed development now boasting contemporary ground floor
retail and upper level commercial office space over-looking Macquarie Street, 290 serviced apartments and 329 on site car parking spaces,” Steve said.
“Council wanted us to strictly comply with the NSW State Governments planning guidelines for shop top residential apartments and in doing so we had to
be very conscious of the heritage of the Old Bank Building and the restrictions that come with that. It is a beautiful building and we are trying to
make it the jewel in the crown of the whole site, and while we believe we could have made it work, the changes hopefully ensure councils support and
recommendation to the JRPP. It is important to us that we are doing what is right for the development and the future of Dubbo.”
The developments construction will continue to be staged in its delivery with the ‘north tower’ the first to commence during 2019 featuring serviced apartments and commercial space, followed by the ‘south tower’ and completion of the project in 2020. All retail floor space, car parking and works to the Old Bank would form part of stage 1.
With demolition already complete, Maas Group Family Properties are eager to commence construction on the project, which is tipped to transform and positively
add to the main street of Dubbo.
The development would anchor the Dubbo CBD as the place to shop and work as it continues to reinforce Macquarie Street as the ‘High Street’ retail shopping
precinct for the Orana region along with providing much needed contemporary office floor area within the Dubbo CBD.
“The feedback we continue to receive though social media posts, phone calls, business enquiries and face to face discussion with our team members has been
nothing less than overwhelming support and encouragement to keep going and to make this happen for Dubbo and our region,” Steve said.
“Mixed use projects are the way of the future for their occupants and their regional centres as all spaces are required to complement each other and the
township they are located from a business and liveability view point. By taking a little longer in the planning stage, this only further assures the
development is feasible and a great fit for Dubbo.”
Maas Group Family Properties hope to have the DA with a recommendation for approval presented to the JRPP in December to enable construction to commence
in the new year.
